For hen groups, you can hire both wood-fired saunas and both cold plunges just for yourselves, then stay for a drink at the bar afterwards.

A different kind of hen do
Mostly, it’s just a really nice way to spend a few hours together.
You have the saunas to yourselves, move between the heat and cold at your own pace, then sit around with a drink in between.

Private sauna hire
Have the Sauna Hub to yourselves.
Most hen groups hire the whole Sauna Hub.
That means both of our wood-fired saunas and both cold plunges are kept exclusively for your group. The bar stays open to everyone else.
There’s room for up to 30 people across the Hub, with 22 able to sit in the saunas at the same time.

For groups of up to eight, you can keep one wood-fired sauna entirely to yourselves.
The other sauna, cold plunges, showers, changing rooms and bar stay communal.

How it works
There isn’t much to organise.
Turn up, get changed and we’ll show everyone around.
From there, you can move between the saunas, plunges and bar however you like. There’s no set order and no timetable to follow.
Some people will plunge every round. Some won’t get in once. Both are fine.
Stay for a drink afterwards if you fancy it.
What to bring
The usual sauna stuff.
- SwimwearBring whatever you’d normally wear to a pool. For a private group, swimwear is optional inside the sauna if everyone is comfortable with that. It stays on in the plunges, changing rooms and bar.
- TowelsBring one to dry yourself and, if you can, another to sit on in the sauna.
- Flip-flops or slidersThere’s a short walk between the changing room and saunas.
- Something warmParticularly useful if you’re sitting outside between sauna rounds.
Cake, decorations & drinks
Yes, you can make it feel like a hen do.
Bunting, banners, table decorations and cake are all welcome.
We just ask you to leave the confetti and glitter at home - mostly because it has an impressive ability to end up in the cold plunges.
The bar serves beer, wine, prosecco, soft drinks, low- and no-alcohol options and coffee.
The place
Sauna in an old farm workshop.
Balta is a converted farm workshop in Mark Cross, East Sussex. We built two wood-fired saunas outside, added two cold plunges, and turned the workshop itself into a warm indoor space with a bar, changing rooms and somewhere to sit between rounds.

Where is Balta Chill?
We’re in Mark Cross, East Sussex, around ten minutes from Tunbridge Wells and close to the Kent-Sussex border. There’s free parking on site.
Is the sauna private for our hen party?
Yes, if you book the Sauna Hub, both wood-fired saunas and both cold plunges are reserved just for your group. The bar remains open to other guests.
How many people can you take?
Private Sauna Hub hire is suitable for groups of up to 30 people. The two saunas seat 22 people between them at one time. For smaller hen parties of up to eight, you can hire just one sauna.
How long should we book for?
You can book the Sauna Hub for 90 minutes or three hours. If sauna is one stop in a busy day, 90 minutes works well. If you want to take your time, have drinks between rounds and make Balta more of an event in itself, we’d suggest three hours.
Do we all have to use the cold plunge?
Not at all. Cold plunging is completely optional.
Can we drink?
Yes. The bar is open during your booking, although we keep alcohol sensible around sauna and cold water.
Can we decorate?
Yes. Bunting, banners, cake and table decorations are welcome. Just no confetti or glitter.
What should we bring?
Swimwear, towels and flip-flops or sliders.

Private Sauna Hub hire starts at £190 for 90 minutes or £340 for three hours. Smaller groups can hire one private sauna from £140 per hour. All prices include VAT.
