Balta Chill is a sauna hub and bar in East Sussex, ten minutes from Tunbridge Wells. Teams can hire the whole venue for a half or full day, with two wood-fired saunas, cold plunges, indoor space and a licensed bar all to themselves.
It’s a team day that doesn’t involve sitting in another meeting room.

Why Balta
A different kind of team day.
We got the idea for Balta while living in Estonia, where sauna is less of a treatment and more somewhere people go to spend time together. It turns out that works for teams too.
- Side by side, not across a tableThere is something about sitting in a sauna with no phones and not much to do that gets people talking in a way they would not around a meeting table.
- Everyone sets their own paceSauna, plunge, sit around with a coffee or a beer, go back in. Nobody has to do anything they do not fancy, the cold water included.
- No workshops requiredThere is no programme and no facilitator. The day works precisely because nobody has to run it.
Whole-venue hire

For most corporate away days, we recommend hiring the whole venue.
That gives your team exclusive use of both wood-fired saunas, both cold plunges, the indoor bar space and changing facilities, with no other guests on site.

How the day works
There isn’t much of a timetable.
You choose when everyone arrives and leaves within your booking window.
Some teams start with a coffee or short meeting in the bar. Others get changed and head straight for the sauna.
From there, people can move between the two saunas, cold plunges and indoor space at their own pace.
Cold plunging is optional. Sauna is optional too - anyone who doesn’t fancy either can stay in the bar and still be part of the day.
If you want to include a presentation, team talk or catered meal, there’s space for that too.

- WeatherThe saunas and plunges are outdoors, with some cover in the Sauna Hub and the bar indoors if you want to dry off. Bookings go ahead in normal rain.
About Balta
Why a sauna for a team day?
We’re Rachel and Billy, and we built Balta after living in Estonia for a couple of years.
Over there, sauna isn’t really treated as a wellness activity or a special occasion. It’s just somewhere people go together - friends, families, people from work.
You get hot, cool down, sit around, talk, and don’t do very much for a while.
That was the bit we wanted to bring back with us. And it turns out that not doing very much together can make for a pretty good team day.

A few things teams usually ask.
How many people can you accommodate?
Whole-venue hire is suitable for groups of up to 50 people. Around 30 can sit indoors and 22 people can use the two saunas at the same time.
Where is Balta Chill?
We’re at Dene Farm in Mark Cross, East Sussex, around ten minutes from Tunbridge Wells and close to the Kent-Sussex border. Free parking is available on site.
Can we hire Balta Chill on a weekday?
Yes. Monday to Wednesday are reserved for private events, making them particularly suitable for corporate away days and team offsites. Those days are half-day hire, 9am-3pm or 4pm-10pm. If you want a full 9am-10pm day, that runs Thursday to Sunday.
Does everyone have to use the sauna?
No. People can use as much or as little of the sauna and cold plunge as they like. The bar and indoor space are there for anyone who would rather sit one out.
Can we hold a meeting or presentation?
Yes. The indoor space seats around 30 and can be used for a welcome, short presentation, team discussion or meal.
Can we arrange food?
Yes. There’s no kitchen at Balta, but whole-venue bookings can bring in an outside caterer.
Can you invoice a company?
Yes. We can issue an invoice and VAT receipt for corporate bookings.
What does a corporate away day cost?
Whole-venue hire starts at £600 for a half day. A full day is £1,200 and runs Thursday to Sunday. Smaller teams can hire the Sauna Hub from £190 or one private sauna from £140 per hour.
