There’s seating for around 30 inside and space for up to 50 people across the venue.

How it works
Not much of a schedule.
Turn up, get changed and we’ll show everyone around.
From there, you can move between the two saunas, plunges and bar however you like.
Some people will sauna the whole time. Some will sit one round out with a drink. Nobody has to plunge.
For a 90-minute booking, you’ll have time for a few sauna rounds. Three hours gives you much more time to sit around, have a drink and take things slowly.
The place
An old farm workshop.
Balta is in Mark Cross, East Sussex, around ten minutes from Tunbridge Wells. We converted an old farm workshop into a sauna hub and bar, then built two wood-fired saunas outside with two cold plunges alongside them.

- AgeCommunity sessions are 16+. With the full Sauna Hub or the whole venue to yourselves, the minimum age is 10.
- SwimwearFor private groups, swimwear is optional inside the sauna if everyone is comfortable with that. It stays on in the plunges, changing rooms and bar.
- TowelsBring a towel to dry yourself and, if you can, another to sit on in the sauna.
- FoodWhole-venue bookings can bring in an outside caterer.
- DrinksThe bar is open throughout your booking. We’re licensed, so all alcohol has to come from the bar - please don’t bring your own.
- BookingA deposit secures the date. We’ll confirm payment, cancellation and rescheduling terms before you book.

Where is Balta Chill?
We’re in Mark Cross, East Sussex, around ten minutes from Tunbridge Wells and close to the Kent-Sussex border. There’s free parking on site.
How many people can come?
One private sauna takes up to eight people. Private Sauna Hub hire works for groups of up to 30, with 22 people able to sit in the two saunas at once. Whole-venue hire is available for groups of up to 50.
Can we decorate?
Yes. Bunting, balloons, banners and table decorations are fine. Just no glitter or confetti.
Can we bring a birthday cake?
Absolutely. Bring a cake and we can keep it behind the bar until you need it.
Does everyone have to sauna?
No. People can sit in the bar or indoor space whenever they like. If you hire the Sauna Hub rather than the whole venue, the bar remains open to other guests.
Can we bring food?
For whole-venue bookings, yes - you can arrange an outside caterer.
How long should we book for?
If sauna is one part of a bigger day, 90 minutes works well. For most birthday groups, three hours gives you more time to sauna, have a drink and actually spend time together.
What does private hire cost?
One private sauna starts at £140 per hour. Private Sauna Hub hire starts at £190 for 90 minutes or £340 for three hours. Whole-venue hire starts at £600 for a half day. All prices include VAT.
